Do you like Science Fiction and other speculative genres? Yes? Then put 16th May in your diary. That's the day when Third Flatiron Anthologies' Hyperpowers issue goes live at http://www.thirdflatiron.com. My story, 'Alien Dreams' will be in it alongside 15 other stories chosen by guest editor Bascomb James, a respected author, lecturer and editor of Far Orbit anthologies. The hyperpowers theme covers space opera and military science fiction, so readers can look forward to tales that push the final frontier. 'Alien Dreams' is about what happens when an alien vessel on a mapping mission salvages a strange craft.
The next Third Flatiron anthology will be on a theme of Keystone Chronicles–that's stories concerned with an equivalent of the stone that holds an arch together and without which it would crumble, be it "species, pipelines, cops, beer or ski resorts". Submissions should be in standard Shunn format, 1,500 to 3,000 words and saved as .doc, .rtf, or .txt. Check the website for full details. The reading period runs from 15th April to 15th June. I have to say, I found the Third Flatiron team a pleasure to deal with and I'm really proud to be chosen.
If reading stories online isn't your thing, it's worth taking a look at Third Flatiron's website as they publish a print edition of their anthologies after the digital launch.
