I don't believe in 'em–New Year resolutions that is, mainly because I know I'll have fallen short before the end of January. However, I do have a long writing to-do list.
While I was writing the Exiles of Ondd novels, I gathered a big folder of ideas for everything from novels to essays, micro-fiction to monologues, and I want to dive into these. I'm not daft enough to think I can write them all in a year, even if I did think they were all worth it, but I should at least be able to finish some half-written stories. After such a long project, I'm looking forward to getting into writing short and flash fiction again.
There are also two novels not connected to the Exiles that are waiting for edits and sending out to publishers. Before that, there are some competitions I'd like to enter. The Exiles of Ondd won't be neglected, as I'm formulating plans for some extras to complement the series, particularly involving the Iyessi songs.
Phew! I feel exhausted just thinking about it, and I know I always think I can do more than I can. If I'm to make time for some reading and a life outside writing too, I probably won't tick everything off the list, but at least no one will be able to fault my ambition!
If you find the prospect of starting to write again after the break daunting, you can still download Discord's Apprentice at half-price until 31st January at http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/ksdearsley.
Good luck with all you writing goals in 2022.
