It's been a few weeks since my last blog, so it's high time for an update on what's going on. There's good news, and there's no news really.
The good news is that one of my plays, Antarctica, has been published by Silver Birchington Plays. You can purchase a copy for yourself or for your company, and if you decide to produce it, the cost is deducted from the licence fee. Self-publishing a play is easy, but handling the performance rights is more tricky, so I'm hoping this will make life easier. Antarctica was performed as the runner-up in the inaugural Walter Swann Trust Playwriting Award at West Yorkshire Playhouse and Ilkley Playhouse. It was also performed as part of the Northampton Playhouse Festival and was short-listed for the Windsor Fringe Festival. Details are on the Plays page on this site, or you can go direct to http://www.silverbirchingtonplays.com.
There's no news yet on when Super World Unknown will be published, but it shouldn't be long now. It's an anthology of speculative fiction by local authors, which I was honoured to be invited to contribute to by respected editor Donna Scott. My story, 'The Adult Prodigy', will be one of around seventeen tales, including 'Location, Location, Location' by Alan Moore.
Meanwhile, the Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale is still on. Changes are in the offing at Smashwords, due to the merger with Draft 2 Digital, but this is one thing that should stay the same. If, like me, you find it hard to write while it's hot, don't miss out on the chance to choose from hundreds of free and discounted titles before the end of July. Amongst them are my short story and poetry anthology, Artists and Liars, and the Exiles of Ondd, which are discounted so you can download Discord's Child FREE and Discord's Apprentice at 75 per cent off, meaning that you can acquire the whole series at less than half-price. I've also made Artists and Liars FREE, so short story lovers aren't left out. Find out more at http://www.smashwords.com/profile/view/ksdearsley
Enjoy!
